New FamilySearch

The main purpose for this page is to inform the family about the relationship corrections we are making on new FamilySearch for the Hacking family. Errors in dates and locations can be corrected as family members claim their Legacy Contribution. What I have been doing the last few weeks is separating out erroneous records so we can find the one that needs to be edited or removed. Then we have contacted those who can edit the error or claim the Legacy Contribution for those who are deceased or otherwise not able to complete the work. Below is a brief report of corrections made or in process, starting in April 2010.

Please note that working on new FamilySearch is constantly changing. Recent changes have given greater abilities to edit errors. But with this new option, make sure your changes are well documented. (14 April 2012)

CAUTION!

If you are working on the James Hacking Family on new FamilySearch:

  • Don't combine records of the families we are working on at the present time. When we are finished making corrections, we will recombine correct records.

  • Remove any Disputes you may have on the family members as this locks in the errors. Instead use the attitional information option at the bottom of the Details page.

  • Don't submit these names for temple work. Their work has been done multiple times and is connected to other separated records for the individual.

  • Please communicate with the family if you see things that need to be corrected.

  • Claim your Legacy Contributions or those of your closely related desceased family members so you can edit out the errors.

List of Progress Correcting new FamilySearch for the

James Hacking Family

  1. Separated John Fisher and James Hacking, husbands of Jane Pearson, who had been erroneously combined, along with their parents.

  2. Separated James Hacking from another James Hacking and his wife Alice and their daughter Ann Hacking, born in Blackburn and placed DO NOT COMBINE notes on them to warn others not to recombine. I called FamilySearch Support to take care of a quirky thing that caused Alice to still show up as our James Hacking's wife on the pedigree eventhough she does not show up on the combined records list or family group as his spouse.

  3. Separated Alice Hacking, and twins Alice and Elizabeth Fisher, three daughters of Jane Pearson Hacking Fisher who had been combined as one individual.

  4. Separated out records that confused William Hacking with James Hacking, including having William as the spouse of Jane Pearson, and William as the son of his brother James and wife Jane. Waiting for family members to edit their submissions.
