Hi, I am Jake Blazzard from Morgan, Utah. I am in the last semester of the ITEC graduate program at the University of Wyoming. I received my Bachelor's Degree from Utah Valley University in International Business with an emphasis in Spanish. After graduation, I taught Spanish at the Missionary Training Center (MTC) for 3 years, went into a successful career in training and sales, then finally transitioned back to my passion for teaching. This is my 6th year teaching high school Religious Education as a seminary instructor at Morgan High School.

In my portfolio you will learn more about me as a graduate student and a professional educator. My philosophy for teaching is to provide an inspiring, interactive learning experience. I believe that students learn to DO by DOING. I feel like learning and teaching is an ‘art’ but I am discovering that there is a lot more 'science’ to it than I realized. I never liked science but the 'science' of teaching has intrigued me and the ITEC program has deepened my understanding and elevated my vision. Already, I have seen the impact in my lesson preparation and techniques to help enable the students in the learning process. This e-portfolio demonstrates the knowledge and skills that I have developed to meet my professional objectives.

My wife and I have been married for 7 years! We finally welcomed a beautiful miracle girl, Tessa, into our lives last August. We have two dogs and enjoy the great outdoors. I have found that my goals and philosophy stem from my healthy, active lifestyle. I enjoy home remodels and other handyman projects I can get my hands on. I feel like I have another "degree" on Youtube for DIY videos. After obtaining my ITEC MS Degree I plan to continue in Religious Education and hope to incorporate more technology in my teaching. I hope this glimpse into my professional life will be instructing and inspiring!
