Application for Membership in the Japan Association of English Romanticism
The Japan Association of English Romanticism was founded in May 1975 to promote the study of English Romanticism and to facilitate communication among members. If you wish to join the association, please follow the application procedures outlined below.
To apply for the membership, please complete the application form and send it to the address listed below. Before submitting the form, pay the following fees via postal transfer, using the transfer form available at post offices:
Annual Membership Fee: ¥5000 (General) / ¥3000 (Students)
Committee fee: ¥8000

The association’s fiscal year runs from April to March of the following year. New members will receive the association’s annual bulletin (published in March) free of charge for that year.
Members who purchase back issues of the association’s bulletin starting from the first issue will receive a 20 % discount.
Members may present their research at the annual national conference (held every October), subject to appropriate procedures.
The members may also submit their research for publication in the association’s bulletin, following the required procedures.
6. Members may attend Lectures on English Romanticism (held in Tokyo, usually around May and June) free of charge. Since this is a voluntary-based event, we may ask members residing in or near Tokyo to associate with operations.
7. Please promptly inform the secretariat of any changes to your membership details.
8. Failure to pay the annual membership fee for two consecutive years may result in disqualification from the association.
9. For re-enrollment, please refer to Section 1 of this guidance.

Please submit your completed application form to the address above either by post or by email. (We kindly request email submission for efficiency, if possible.)
Student membership was introduced in 2023. Applicants for student membership must submit to the above address a copy of a valid student card or equivalent proof of enrollment. Even if you are not a full-time student, you may still apply as long as you can provide appropriate certification.
