Neuroinformatics and fractal dimension

From MRI brain images, brain is reconstituted in 3 dimensions. Brain surface and gray/white boundary matter is studied.

In few words, the fractal dimension FD is a single numerical value which quantifies the complexity of an object difficult to measure with the euclidean geometry.

I have computed in Matlab two methods to calculate the fractal dimension of 3d objets, namely the the Box-counting method and the Bouglian-Minkowski method.
