Charlotte Graham, acquired by the Buffalo Bisons in the off-season from the Santa Ana Lionettes, tossed a three-hitter to spoil the season-opener of the Connecticut Falcons and pitched the Bisons to a 3-1 Women’s Professional Softball Association victory Friday night before 1,249 at Falcon Field.
The Bisons scored all their runs in the second inning and Graham, who struck out two and walked four, limited the two-time defending league champions to one run.
The Falcons scored their only run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
In the second game the Falcons rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning for four runs to take a 4-3 victory away from the Bisons. Karen Gallagher was hit by a pitch and Kathy Stilwell and Snooki Mulder singled to load the bases for the Falcons with no outs. Willie rose lined a 2-run double and, after Mulder scored on a wild pitch, Linda McMorran hit an RBI single to right center.
