Hotels and directions to the department
The hotel we suggest is Dan Inn, which can be booked from this site or also directly from the hotel's site.
From the airport, you can take bus 208 from the tube (on the far right as you exit the airport terminal), for 3.80 R$. It runs every 30 minutes, and in about 30 minutes it takes you to the stop "Circulo Militar", right next to hotel Dan Inn. Taxis from the airport to hotel Dan Inn cost around 80 R$. If you want to get from the airport directly to the workshop site, the only reasonably quick option is to take a taxi (ask to be taken to "Shopping Jardim das Americas", which should cost around 60 R$).
The workshop site can be reached conveniently from hotel Dan Inn: at "Circulo Militar" take bus 469, and get off at "Centro Politecnico". "Circulo Militar" is located just next to the hotel. Bus 469 is a silver-colored bus and you will have to catch it entering one of the tubes. You can buy the ticket inside the tube. If you get to the tube by 9h you can catch the 9:05 bus that will reach the workshop location just before the first talk in the morning.
This map depicts the short walk from the "Centro Politecnico" bus stop (a tube, marked by X) to the workshop location, i.e. the Auditorium of the Departamento de Informatica (marked by Z).
The route description is: from the bus stop X, cross the main avenue "H. dos Santos" to reach the side entrance of the University Campus (a blue gate next to an unfinished gray building). Enter the university, and go straight got about 80 meters until you reach a transversal street with a pedestrian crosswalk and light, as in this picture. Cross the street, the Informatics Department is on your right hand side, marked Z on the map (it's the building on the right on the picture).

Tourism in Curitiba
Curitiba offers a variety of nice parks, in particular the botanical garden is located at walking distance from the workshop location.
The municipal market in the center is also worth a visit.
