Welcome to my website! I am an Associate Professor of Economics (with tenure) at the University of Utah, where I have been a faculty member since 2016. I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Kent, an M.S. in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Kent, and a B.S. in Economics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Here is a link to my CV.
My research and teaching interests center on macroeconomics and econometrics. In the area of macroeconomics, I work on monetary economics, the dynamics of hysteresis, and their interplay with monetary, fiscal, and financial stabilization policies. I am also interested in how heterogeneity and inequality shape business cycles and long-run economic growth.
In the area of econometrics, my work focuses on Bayesian statistical methods in time series analysis and empirical macroeconomics, and nonlinear, non-Gaussian models in macroeconomic analysis and forecasting.
My research has been published in peer-reviewed journals including Economics Letters, the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Macroeconomic Dynamics, the Review of Income and Wealth, and Studies in Nonlinear Dynamics and Econometrics, among others.
