About me

I am Associate Professor (with tenure) in the Department of Economics at the University of Utah, where I have been a faculty member since 2016. I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Kent, an M.S. in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Kent, and a B.S. in Economics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

My research and teaching interests are in the areas of macroeconomics, monetary economics, and (Bayesian and classical) time series econometrics. My research agenda focuses on two projects. The first consists in studying the dynamic interactions between business cycles, economic growth, income distribution, and the structure of financial systems. The second explores new econometric models and methods aimed at identifying the permanent and cyclical fluctuations that determine the different states of the economy, as well as their potential dynamic interactions.
