Isabella Simon Sanders

The I.S. Sanders Scholarship commemorates the life of Mrs. Isabella Simon Sanders, a lifelong resident of the Keithville area. Mrs. Sanders, a beacon of inspiration not only to her family but also to all who crossed her path, dedicated 39 years to educating the community of Caddo Parish, advocating fervently for universal access to education. A devout Christian, she faithfully served Lane Chapel CME Church in Shreveport, LA, for half a century until her husband, A.J. Sanders, passed away in 2010, prompting her return to Mt. Bethel #2 Baptist Church, where she continued her ministry. Engaging actively in numerous civic and religious endeavors, Mrs. Sanders left an indelible mark on her community. In tribute to her enduring love and unwavering commitment, the Sanders and Graham family has established the I.S. Sanders Scholarship Foundation.
