First Version

This version is very aggressively Islamic.

It was written in the realization that utilizing Western discourse already compromised the Islamic message. I wanted first to put the Islamic message in the content, without worrying about the audience and how they would react to it. I found this was essential, because the ideas to be expressed had to be formulated in the native Islamic language - conventional Islamic discourse takes for granted the truth of the Quran and the validity of the message of Islam.

Subsequently, I had to worry about translating it into a language acceptable to a secular audience. The later versions are much more considerate of non-Muslims, and written with a view to the sensibilities of secular thought.
