FRATURAS3D is a suite of software applications for the 3D modeling and numerical simulation of flow in fractured and porous media. Developed in a collaboration between Tecgraf and Petrobras Research Center (CENPES), FRATURAS3D is used to study and estimate flow parameters in fractured reservoirs.
The main software are:
StatisticalFracture - Statistical analysis tool for fracture networks
FracGen3D - 3D discrete fracture network generator
FracMesh: 3D FE mesh approach for creating fracture meshes from existing rock meshes
CalcSpacing: Fracture spacing verification tool
3D Finite Element mesh generator (tetrahedron and triangle elements)
FTPF-3D - 3D Finite Element simulator of flow and solute transport in porous and fractured media
ChannelSim - System for the modeling and numerical analysis of flow in channels using a fractured approach
Visualization of models and results tool.
The FRATURAS3D project is the result of my PhD research. I have participated in this project since its creation in 2003, been responsible for the research, design and development of almost all the modules. This project led to several academic publications .
A few screenshots of FRATURAS3D software are shown below. The first picture shows the module responsible for the statistical study of the fractures in reservoirs. The second picture shows the 3D fracture generator. The third picture shows three of the steps that compose the flow simulation used for permeability tensor estimation.
Responsibility:
Research, design and development of StatisticalFracture, FracGen3D, FracMesh, CalcSpacing, ChannelSim
Implemented fracture elements (triangular mesh) and expanded the Finite Element calculation coupling the fractures and the rock matrix of FTPF-3D
