ChannelSim is a system for the modeling and numerical analysis of flow in channels using a fractured approach. The main objective of the system is to estimate the equivalent permeability to a fractured media, that could be the full matrix or the main diagonal tensor.
The approach considers to represent the fracture geometry (polygons) by channels (line segment). This means, identify the connection between fractures and between fractures and boundaries. And, set the fracture properties correctly for each channel.
The system is composed by four software:
FracGen3D - 3D Fracture network generator.
ChannelMesh3D - Finite element mesh generator based in the connection between fractures and boundary domain.
ChannelFlow3D - Steady-state Finite Element flow simulator.
ChannelVisual3D - Flow results and permeability tensor visualizator.
ChannelSim is part of FRATURAS3D project, developed in a collaboration between Tecgraf and Petrobras Research Center (CENPES).
The software are developed in C/C++ programming languages and uses IUP and OpenGL development frameworks.
Figures below show the graphical interface of each software.
