3. Experimental research

In this paragraph you are going to put your knowledge about the scientific method to practice. There are 6 research questions of witch you need to answer at least 4 by doing an experiment according to the scientific method.

1. If you keep increasing the number of cupcake cases staked together, will they keep falling faster?

2. If you keep adding more salt to water, would it take longer to dissolve, or would it dissolve faster?

3. Who will cool down faster, a penguin on its own, or a penguin in a huddle?

4. If you double the height a meteor drops from, will the size of the impact crater also double?

5. What is absorbed better by diapers, freshwater or saltwater?

6. What is the influence of the amount of soap on the surface tension of water?

• You work in pairs.
• For each investigation you will use an investigation worksheet that you receive from your teacher (or you can download them below)
• To help you to plan your investigation you can use the investigation guide in appendix C. Every student hands in the investigation worksheets of the experiments (s)he has done and a research paper for one experiment of choice. You can find how to write a research paper in appendix B.
