Overview

The International Summer School took place on January 16-20, 2023 at the University of Pretoria, South Africa.

A total of 40 participants attended the Summer School and included MSc, PhD, junior and more experienced scientists from the University of Pretoria.

The five-day International Summer School provided a varied and comprehensive academic programme with contributions from international experts present at the University, as well as remotely via videoconference.

The goal of the Summer School is to contribute in establishing a new generation of plant disease epidemiologists who will:

* Have been exposed to the basic principles of plant disease epidemiology,

* Be able to select from a range of options proper approaches to address plant disease epidemiology problems

* Be able to identify options for sustainable disease management

The International Summer School was locally organised by Prof. Lise Korsten, Dr. David Linvingstone Nsibo, and Miss Thabang Msimango.

The Summer School was sponsored by the University of Pretoria’s Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, Department of Science and Innovation- National research Foundation (DSI-NRF) Centre of Excellence in Food Security, Grain SA, and Bayer.
