ISSPDE 2015 Overview
The International Summer School took place from March 30 to 3 April 2015 in the Department of Plant Pathology, College of Agriculture, Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur, India.
A total of 63 participants attended the Summer School and included MSc, PhD, junior and more experienced scientists from numerous Indian institutions (Universities, Research Centres, and the private sector).
The five-day International Summer School provided a varied and comprehensive academic programme with contributions from national and international faculty.
This goal of the Summer School is to contribute in establishing a new generation of plant disease epidemiologists who will:
Have been exposed to the basic principles of botanical – or plant disease – epidemiology,
Be able to select from a range of options proper approaches to address plant disease epidemiology problems
Be able to identify options for sustainable disease management
Funding for the first Summer School was provided by the Chhattisgarh State and Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur, and the program was organized under the aegis of the Epidemiology Committee of the International Society of Plant Pathology, chaired by Jonathan Yuen, SLU, Sweden.
