EWI Dataset

The regional Enterprise survey - World governance indicators - Indexes (EWIs) are indicators of institutional quality for 39 countries* based on the 2018-2020 Enterprise Survey and the World Governance Indicators.

The EWI Index is constructed following the WGI hierarchy framework. More in detail, the regional indicator of Control of Corruption is based on the following questions: 1) Crime, Theft and Disorder; 2) Corruption. Government effectiveness is based on: 1) Electrical infrastructures; 2) Transport infrastructures; 3) Workforce education; 4) Tax rate; 5) Tax administration. Regulatory quality is built on: 1) Customs and Trade Regulations; 2) Practices of Competitors; 3) Access to finance; 4) Occupational safety regulation; 5) Health and hygiene regulations; 6) Environmental regulations; 7) Labour regulations; 8) Business licensing and permits. Finally, Rule of Law is based on: 1) Access to land; 2) Courts.
