INSPIRE STITCHERS EXHIBITION 2017

On 16-17 September InSpire Stitchers opened the doors on their latest exhibition of members work. What a diversity of styles, techniques and colours were on display! Over 40 quilts of varying sizes were hung and additional items were displayed on chairs around the room. We had a tombola of items made by members, a room full of quilts for donation to Julia’s House Childrens’ hospice, two traders and tea, coffee and cake. Volunteers from the membership stewarded the displays and chatted to visitors. The weather was kind and visitors started arriving almost straight away on Saturday, when we had most visitors - including some guests attending a wedding at the church who popped in for some light refreshments on the way. Sunday was a lot quieter with a steady trickle of visitors. Our members' challenge this year was won by Gill Cartwright with her “Critters” quilt, which the visitors voted for from amongst the Julia’s House quilts. A representative from Julia’s House came to our November meeting for a handover ceremony of the quilts and a cheque for £450 raised from our event. £200 will be donated to the Church Hall for their renovation fund, as requested by the parish from all regular users.

I hope you all enjoyed the exhibition and are working hard planning for the next one! The committee worked extremely hard to put on this display – including a very late night on the Friday to get everything in place.

Here are a few photographs from the exhibition, and one of the later presentation to Julia's House:
