A report from the Committee on recent activity

As we take our Summer break during August, it is a good time to reflect on the wonderful year we have had so far.

A well-attended AGM in January, that included a games evening, was followed in February with our fees night, with a pleasing number of new members joining us and a new trader to us – Lacey May’s Haberdashery.

In March, we had Samantha Boot as our speaker who encouraged us to “Embrace the Imperfect”.

As the Hall was closed for refurbishment in April, we arranged for a replacement day on a Saturday in July when many members tackled their ”UFOs”.

In May, Carolyn Forster returned as our speaker, this was followed the following day by a “Quilts from Pre-cuts” workshop.

Gail Lawther was our speaker in June with a theme of “Glorious Gardens” and in July Dawn Cameron Dick gave us her “One Woman Quilt Show”.

Such wonderful, varied and entertaining speakers to give us inspiration.

In September we have a working evening with Nicola’s Fabrics as our trader. This will be a chance to reflect on any completed projects, review our Yearly challenge and see how far the Chinese Whispers project has progressed. With still more to come over the Autumn months, we can justifiably celebrate a vibrant and friendly group that is going from strength to strength.
