VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The Optimist International Junior Golf Championships, Indiana South District Tournament is rapidly approaching! The Tournament will be held at Oak Tree Golf Course 4712 US-40, Plainfield, IN 46168 on Friday, June 14. Nearly all of you have volunteered in the past, and many of you have verbally committed to helping this year. We now need to know for sure, who can help, what job you would like, and what time(s) you are available. It appears that we will have a small field again this year, so we could get by with fewer volunteers. On the other hand, we will find a job for all of you if would like to help. (If you know of junior golfers who could benefit from their participation in this tournament, please direct them to our District Tournament web site at https://sites.google.com/site/insoptimistgolf/. We will be accepting late entries if at all possible.) We will need the following types of volunteers:
Registration (7:30 am - 9:00 am) Need 2 People
Starter (8:15 am - 10:30 am) Need 1 Person
Marshalls (8:00 am - 3:00 pm) Need 4 People
Photographer (8:00 am - 4:00 pm) Covered
Spotters (8:15 am - 2:30 pm) Need 4 to 5 People
Scoring (10:30 am - 4:00 pm) Need 3 People
Awards Will be given out at the completion of each age group!
There will be a brief opening ceremony at 8:00 am. There will be a memorial for Mike Woodward and John Reel. Mike Woodward's son will be opening the tournament with the first tee shot at 8:14 am. The first tee times will be at 8:15 am. You should plan to arrive at the course at7:00 am for a brief meeting. Donuts and coffee will be provided to all volunteers.. There will be a meeting with all starters, marshals, and spotters at 7:00 am to review "on course" job requirements (what we should and shouldn't do, examples of some issues we have had in the past, etc.) with Oak Tree’s Host Professional (and our Rules Chair) Ben Weaver.
The snack bar will have reasonably priced breakfast choices available, so plan to arrive early. With good luck, and good weather, we should be on our way home before 4:00 pm at the latest!
Please reply to this e-mail by Sunday, June 9 to let us know if you are available, what job or jobs you would prefer, and the time (morning, afternoon, or all day) that you are available. Once we have heard back from everyone, a final schedule of job assignments will be prepared and we will send that schedule and additional information back to you hopefully no later than Wednesday, June 12.
