Previous page: Marcion’s Gospel, Compared Verse by Verse With Luke
The sub-pages of this page each contain a table showing the (English) text of a chapter of Marcion's Gospel of the Lord [Ev] side-by-side with the parallel text of Luke. The left-hand ‘Marcion’ column contains the most likely content of Ev, as determined using the criteria described in Reconstructing Marcion's Gospel and Textual Considerations, with the KJV text of Luke (right-hand) as the basis of the translation. For detailed verse-by-verse discussions as to why particular passages, verses, phrases, or words have been either included or excluded, see Marcion’s Gospel, Compared Verse by Verse With Luke.
The text in each table is color-coded, as follows:
Text in black – Lukan text for which there is no reason to think it differed in Ev;
Text in blue – Lukan text most likely not present in Ev (Minor translation differences are generally not marked);
Text in green – Lukan text that may or may not exist in Ev, ie. where their existence in Ev is disputed;
Text in pink – additional words in Ev probably not present in Luke (Minor translation differences are generally not marked);
Text in Light Orange – words in Ev in a different place to the same words in Luke.
