- Please see the DISCUSSIONS RUBRIC on the SYLLABUS
- The discussions are on the Course Management System.
- Grading of discussion assignments are grouped in three clusters.
- Cluster 1 includes Units 1-3, (Due dates on the ASSIGNMENTS OVERVIEW page and on the CALENDAR)
- Cluster 2 includes Units 4-6,
- Cluster 3 includes Units 7-10.
- Share and network with class members. Responding to classmates is highly encouraged -- that is the purpose of a discussion, but I am not going to be technical about your replies to others, I am only grading the substance of your contribution.
- Each section discussion (consisting of more than one unit) closes at 11 PM of the due day. All these deadlines are indicated on the course calendar.
- Please engage in the online discussion in the appropriate week for the respective unit.
- Every student is expected to make at least two substantive posts for each unit (your research and findings) and one substantive response to another posting.
- Your postings have to be at least two days apart.
- If the class is large, students will be in a home group based on alphabetical order of student last names,
- You are welcome to cross post to other groups; however, please note - your contributions to your home group will be graded, not cross postings.
- In this course, the word 'Substantive' means (please see Rubric):
- (i) to share findings of your searches and readings
- (ii) to raise and reflect on insightful questions
- (iii) to share new awareness and discoveries.
- Also check out the USEFUL LINKS page for sources to your topic of interest.
- Agreeing with others or praising their views is a sign of collegiality, but it does not make for a substantive posting.
- Each section which you miss with full participation will lower your grade by 3 percentage points.
