INternational Conference on Diseases in Nature Communicable to huMans (INCDNCM)
Welcome to the Scientific Study of Zoonoses!
It is with sadness that we announce that the 74th International Conference on Diseases in Nature Communicable to huMans will be cancelled. Whilst only a short time ago we felt optimistic that June was far enough away to confidently proceed with our plans, current developments in the COVID-19 situation across the world have caused us to come to the decision to cancel an in-person conference.
With the health of the global community as a main priority and the planning of participants, speakers, sponsors and collaborators in mind, we find that it is best to make this decision now rather than later. The people who attend the INKY are critical to the national, regional, and international response to the pandemic, and are needed at home in order to engage with, and protect their own communities. For almost 75 years, INKY has been at the forefront of the global effort to prevent, detect, and contain emerging infectious diseases from nature. As the world continues to grapple with the evolving novel coronavirus outbreak, most of our members will continue this work. To our colleagues at the frontline of this evolving outbreak, we stand in solidarity with you. We recommend people that are unwell with cough or fever or other respiratory symptoms not attend public events or gatherings. This is particularly so for people who have recently travelled from overseas.
Instead, INKY2020 will be hosting weekly “Research Bites” webinar sessions to provide those presenters who are interested the opportunity to showcase their research and ideas to a supportive and interested community. Please continue to consult the conference website and social media for links to the most up to date information.
To everyone, please bear with us while we work out the details, and accept our sincere apologies for any inconveniences caused to you.
We hope for your understanding and look forward to welcoming you all next year to INKY2021
Thank you to this year's sponsors:
The annual International Conference on Diseases in Nature Communicable to Man seeks to increase knowledge and awareness of zoonotic disease within the medical and public health communities.
INCDNCM conferences have been held annual since 1946 and are multidisciplinary, including presentations on viral, rickettsial, bacterial, parasitic, and prion-related diseases acquired from natural sources, including animals (wild or domestic), contaminated water or food supplies, arthropod vectors and other sources.
Submitted presentations are typically 10-15 minutes in length and can describe epidemiological, genetic, clinical, ecological, diagnostic or laboratory-related aspects of the above diseases. Student presentations are encouraged.
The R.R. Parker Memorial Lecture features an invited specialist in an aspect of zoonotic disease.
Please join us for updates on some very intriguing diseases. It is always a memorable scientific event.
