First round
Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (COMC): This contest is open to everyone, and normally takes place in late October. Anyone wanting to qualify for the olympiads must take the COMC. Ask your school about how to sign up.
Olympiad rounds
Asian Pacific Mathematics Olympiad (APMO): Students who score very well on the COMC are invited to take the APMO. Around 30 students are invited. It takes place on the second Monday of March.
Canadian Mathematical Olympiad (CMO): The top 50 COMC scorers are directly invited to the CMO. The next group of 75 students writes the COMC RepĂȘchage, from which another 30 students are invited. It takes place in early March.
Invitation to the CMS Winter Camp also guarantees qualification for both the APMO and the CMO.
Final Round
Canadian IMO team selection test (TST): Based on the results of the APMO and the CMO, a group of students will be invited to write a final selection test, taking place in mid April.
IMO Qualification
The IMO team will be chosen based on the results of the most recent CMO, APMO, and TST.
