RESEARCH TITLE:

SOCIAL AND FINANCIAL EFFICIENCY OF MICROFINANCE INSTITUTIONS: A NEW EVIDENCE: (CROSS-COUNTRY COMPARISON)

SUPERVISOR NAME:

Dr. Ahmad Nawaz nawaz_ahmad@hotmail.com

SIGNIFICANCE:

Microfinance institutions do have a social face too and their source of income is not only deposits, but also donations. In general MFIs are treated as purely financial institutions and most of the studies focus on financial sustainability measurement and ignore its social aspect. But MFIs have a social role to perform and also have to be assessed on how well they meet their social responsibilities. Therefore social efficiency is as important as financial efficiency. Therefore the focus of this study is more on the social aspect of MFIs along with their financial aspect.
