To protect the quality of life in the County's unincorporated neighborhoods, Lake County has implemented a series of enforcement programs designed to quickly address property maintenance problems. Residents of the Idlewild neighborhood of Gages Lake are able to contact a 24-hour hotline 847-377-4444 to report property maintenance related nuisances such as abandoned homes, junk & debris, inoperable vehicles, and tall grass and weeds. Hotline options also include reporting zoning violations, such as operating a commercial business in a residential zone, and Animal Care and Control violations, such as animals running at large. Enforcement of these violations now includes ticketing and prompt prosecution in the County's code hearing unit. Residents are encouraged to assist the County in keeping our neighborhoods clean and well-maintained by reporting any nuisance problems as they occur. Caller information is kept confidential.
