It's now 1987 and the Tyre Mill and ancillary departments at The Ickles will shortly be closed down. The Spring Shop has been demolished and is now a car park and storage area for rings & tyres. The Press Shop and Tyre Mill can be seen to the far left of this picture, with the Amenity Block just visible in front of the Press Shop. The gable ends of 3 and 4 Shop are in the centre of the picture, and the Bandsaw Shop is to the right.
This photo and the 2 following were taken from the Spring Shop car park.
Taken from a different position, this photo again shows the Press Shop, 3 & 4 Shops, and the Gable end of the Bandsaws to the far right.
Taken from the same spot but at a different angle, the Old Heat Treatment Shop can now be seen at the far right of the picture.
Closure of Ickles Tyre Mill
This picture is believed to have been taken on the last working day ??/??/1987. The Tyre in the foreground is also believed to be the last Tyre to be rolled at The Ickles.
