HOW DOES YOUR PROJECT RELATE TO ANY FORM OF HISTORY?
For my PBL Project I have chosen to do an experiment called "ICE MELTING BLOCKS" this experiment uses heat, energy, and thermal temperature. This can relate to what is happening today in the world, which are glaciers melting in the Arctic due to global warming.
According to the Natural Resources Defense Council it explains the average temperatures in the Arctic region. The Arctic's temperatures are rising twice as fast as they are elsewhere in the world. It's ice is getting thinner, melting and breaking down.
The polar ice cap as a whole is shrinking and images from NASA show satellites in the area of a permanent ice cover is contracting at a rate of 9% each decade. Now the melting of the permanent ice is now affecting people and plants and the environment they live in. Animals such as, polar bears, walrus, whales, and seals are changing, migrating, and trying to adapt to different environment and situations making it harder for them to hunt for food to eat.
Native people are in danger of being drowned by the melting ice and having a huge threat on their household and living environments, while trying to survive. To stop global warming we should stop burning fossils fuels, oil, coal, and gas to generate electricity. What we are doing is affecting other parts of the world and destroying their living environments. All we can do to help is conserve energy.
