Is booking required?
- We do not run a booking system.
- Any user can use the equipment whenever they are not occupied.
Is help available?
- Technical staff from ETSU will be stationed at the room to provide helpdesk service.
- Depending on your needs, we may offer further assistance in terms of auxiliary equipment.
Is printing available?
- Printing output is available.
- Maximum size of the printout is A3 (in color).
How can I transfer the source files for working on the ETSU?
- For DV capture, you can bring your own DV tape(s) only.
- For data files / digital photos, you can bring your source data on a CDR / DVD / memory card / USB-drive media.
- If you can store data on Internet servers or network, you can try getting them via file-download.
How do I transfer out large workfiles?
Depending on the size of your files, you can use:
- USB-drive media (include portable harddisk)
- CDR / CDRW / DVDR / DVDRW
- Internet FTP transfer to your own server space
- Webmail attachment
How long can I maintain workfiles on the PC(s)?
- Each workstation has a temporary storage on local harddisk (and a common network storage space) for all users. You can create your own folders/sub-directories at your own risks for your projects.
- Without prior notice, all temporary storage areas will be completely erased by 30-days after the creation day.
- There is no backup facilities for the data stored.
- All dubious copyright materials (eg. MP3 tracks of CDs, VCD/DVD rips) found on the temporary storage will be deleted without prior notice.
Can I install other software applications?
- No, you should not install software on these machines.
- If you have software recommendation for future upgrades, talk to us. We may be able to provide more applications or utilities in future.
Can I copy software applications?
- No, you should not copy out software on these machines.
- All the software applications are installed with software licenses and will not work on alien machines. Many of the applications have an associated hardware interface.
