The GED^® tests are created and administered by the GED Testing Service (GEDTS).

One free test preview/sample test for each subject is provided. These free mini-tests:

are available on any computer at any time.
can be retaken as often as you want.
are not timed.
require YOU to check your own answers on the ANSWER EXPLANATION pages.
are a very useful introduction to the format and content of each test.
are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Ask your instructor for a handout to go with each test preview. These handouts will help you keep track of any wrong answers and provide information about the skills you may need to practice.

Take GED Ready^® Official Practice Tests

GED charges a $6 fee (discounts sometimes available) for these tests, payable with a credit card or a Prepaid Visa Card (available from places like Target). Financial assistance from the Hubbs Center may be available for practice tests (see instructor).

These OFFICIAL practice tests:

determine your readiness for the real tests
are half the length of the real tests
are timed, but you may stop a test at any time by closing your browser. Resume later.
are electronically scored by GED Testing Service (except the essay on the RLA test; your instructor can provide feedback on your practice essay).
provide a detailed score report, including
1. a score that predicts your readiness for the real test, AND
2. a list of the skills you need to improve

DIRECTIONS

Go to the GED Testing Service website.
Log in with your GED^® username and password.
Choose Study in the top bar.
Choose Practice Test.
Choose one of the four tests.
Purchase electronically. Use code, if available, for a discount.
Start the test now or later. The test will be available for six months.

View Your Score Reports.

A detailed score report is available to you after you take a GED Ready^® Practice Test AND a GED^® test.
The score report provides very useful information about how to improve your score.
After selecting one of the recommended GED Preparation books where prompted (see your instructor for recommendation), you will receive specific page numbers of the book that will help you learn and practice the specific skills you still need to work on (based on your answers on the test).

DIRECTIONS FOR VIEWING YOUR SCORE REPORT

Sign into your account on the GED Testing Service website.
From the top menu bar, choose My Scores.
Choose the test score report you would like to see. The top row shows scores for the real tests, which you may not have taken yet. The second row shows scores for the GED Ready^® Practice Tests.
In the section How I Can Score Higher, choose your study material in Step 1. See your instructor for recommendations for study materials.
Print the report, which will show specific pages to work on in your chosen book.
USE the report to focus on specific skills you need to improve. Read answer explanations for all the questions you miss. This is the key to improving your skills. Make a note of any that you still don't understand and discuss those with your instructor.

Schedule a (real) GED^® Test.

The GED^® tests may be taken at a GED Testing Site only. You must schedule your test online on the GED Testing Service website and pay for it with a credit or debit card. Prepaid Visa cards (available from Target, etc.) work as well.

The Hubbs Center is an official testing site and has a GED Testing Room (not the classroom). If you choose the Hubbs Center as your testing site, you will take the test in the GED Testing Room at your scheduled time. DO NOT BE LATE. Your money will not be refunded if you are late.

To schedule a test, log into your GED account, choose Schedule a Test, and follow the instructions.
