The Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry (ESPI) optical technique is a full-filed and noncontact measurement system. It can measure the out-of-plane and in-plane deformation by static loading or dynamic vibration in real time. The ESPI technique based on the time-averaging method is especially useful for vibration measurement. The amplitude of vibration mode shape and the corresponding resonant frequency can be obtained at the same time. The self-arranged optical setup for the out-of-plane and in-plane vibration measurements by Amplitude Fluctuation - ESPI (AF-ESPI). In this setup, the in-plane and out-of-plane arrangements can be easily switched by blocking the laser beams of the undesired measurement direction.
