My folks first came to Hamlin-Townsend lakes in the 1950's. The only place on Townsend was the old log cabin in the NW corner. They purchased a place on Hamlin, built by Arnold Culver of Hart, Mi., who built many of the cottages on both lakes.
My dad was Sec-Treas. at one time in the early days of the Assoc. Hamlin once teemed with bass while Townsend was more noted for it's bluegills. My folks were Roy & Mary Allwelt. I think we were on lot 23 on the W.
As a piece of History, we've attached a copy of the Association Minutes from July 5, 1958 submitted by Secretary Mr. Roy Allwelt.
We'd like to thank Dick for the wonderful note on some of the history of our lakes. We encourage our members to share bits of information they may have concerning our lakes. We also request you send any old photos you may have for our memberships enjoyment. Please send any notes, or photos to our email address at htla.assoc@gmail.com.
