Introduction:
This is a basic trick that you can use to impress your friends at lunch or whenever you have free time and a can of soda. This experiment is a good example of how center of mass can be manipulated using a partially filled soda can.
Materials:
This experiment is so simple all you need is a soda can and some sort of liquid(Water or Soda for best results).
Procedure:
Drink or fill liquid in the soda can until the can is one fourth full, then all you need to do is simply tilt the soda can over on its side, and there you go.
How does it work?
Originally a soda can's center of mass is located directly at the mid-height of the can, however when we added liquid into the can the center of mass was repositioned enabling us to be able to balance the can on it's side.
This project uses standard/no safety procedures, depending on liquid in use.
