About My School

I am a student at Harmony science Academy. I have attended this school for 6 years. There are many

STEM opportunities at the school. It is a math and science based curriculum. The goal of Harmony is

for all students to go on to higher education. The education is good here. The teachers are here to help

us succeed. Harmony is like a family environment. Here there are experiences you can't get anywhere

else. Harmony gives us an education you can't get anywhere else.

The teachers work one on one with you and help you to do extra things you would not do in most schools.

There are opportunities to see colleges most schools don't have, and the teachers go above and beyond

to help you get to the colleges when the time comes. Harmony has a family feeling to it and it is a place

I can truly call home. There are students and teachers that are there to help you. They not only focus

on academics, but they also have sports and things for what the students like.

I have truely see how dedicated the teachers are. I was put on the homebound program this year and I

saw that my teachers were truely dedicated to helpng me. They caught me up in all my classes beacause

of my teacgers helping me. Even the ones that were not my teachers that would go to my house helped

me to catch up. My Spanish teacher also has my brother in one of her classes so she sent the work with

him. That experience was one that really helped me to realize how amazing my teachers really are.

Harmony Schools, we are leading the way in math and science education, so our children can lead our

state and our nation in the future. At Harmony, we provide a safe, nurturing academic environment that

expects excellence and prepares students for success in college and in life.

Harmony Public Schools is the recipient of Race To the Top District (RTT-D) grant in 2012. With RTT-D

grant funds, Harmony is implementing a cross-disciplinary, multi-sensory, technology-enabled project-

based learning (PBL) curriculum that integrates STEM, social studies, and English Language Arts (ELA).

Researchers have documented numerous benefits of project-based approaches beyond the development

of content knowledge: students learning through a project-based curriculum develop the ability to

transfer their learning to new situations, demonstrate an increased ability to define problems and

support their reasoning, and are better able to tackle conceptual problems than those taught with a

more traditional curriculum. Through creative and innovative uses of technology such as video storytelling

and web sites, Harmony students are publicly sharing their work both throughout the process and in a

culminating capstone presentation, ensuring an authentic and meaningful context for deep student

learning.
