My Project Based Learning is about inertia. It connections to social studies in a different way mostly to the present world. Inertia is a property of matter by which it continues in its existing state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line, unless that state is changed by an external force. In other words, inertia is the resistance of any physical object to a change in its state of motion or rest, or the tendency of an object to resist any change in its motion.
This was described as Isaac Newton's first law.In relation to social studies, when we drive, which is a everyday thing, inertia has an effect on it. For example, when you are driving down the street and when you see the light turn red you hit the brakes. You end up slowing down and than you come to a stop. The slowing down part is an effect of inertia.
Another example of inertia is when you get into a car accident. If you don't pay attention to the road and end up rear ending a car, that's inertia. Depending on the speed you were driving when you rear ended the car will change the outcome of injures you got and the damage on the car. Also, if you weren't wearing a seat belt what could happen if you get in a car accident?
Why should you wear a seat-belt at all times? Well according to Newton's First Law objects tend to continue doing what they were doing. So like the image to the right if you happened to hit a brick wall you would end up flying out
of your seat and the car, probably not like that but it would be bad. Or if you don't have a convertible you might just go through the windshield. To prevent such a thing from happening always were a seat-belt. That's why they were invented. When you put to much force on the seat-belt it locks in place so you don't jerk forward.
People use vehicles every day for everything, which is why this relates to social studies because it has to deal with a resource that has effected our lives enormously.
