Introduction
How does the water "dance" in the bowl?
The water "dances" in the bowl because of the pad which holds the vibration that is created by the hand rubbing against the handles.
Materials
You need a resonance bowl, pad/mat, a container to hold water, and water.
Procedure
The project needs to be on a flat surface so the mat can hold the vibrations better and basically you fill the resonance bowl with water and have your hand moist to create a better grip on the handle. Then after that you have your hand moist, you rub your hands with the handles.
Scientific Principle
The concept behind the Resonance bowl is that vibration from the handles increases the vibrations of the bowl. The definition of resonance is where a single vibrational frequency causes other vibrational frequency of another object to increase. The bowl will create a sound depending on its size and how much water is put into it.The palm of the hands will create vibration and the water inside the bowl will ripple which shows the wave that are being in effect. The waves that are being created are called standing waves and they create a pattern called Chladni pattern. Standing waves are produce by two similar waves at the same time but opposite direction.
Safety Regulations
There's no safety regulations because it's only water that we'll be using.
