Effect of Smoke on Society
Smoking affects our population today by killing off people with lung cancer. My project shows how the the smoke falls into your body and settles there to work it's dangerous job. My project creates awareness to the general public about the effects of snow.
Smoking is the number one cause of preventable death in the United States. Whether it comes from fire or the butt of a cigarette, smoke is very dangerous. While it may bring temporary relief, it will hurt you in the long run. About 19% of the human adult population smoke cigarettes. When a human being smokes, they ingest harmful chemicals into their body. This paralyzes cilia (bacteria fighters in the body) and when they get better try to get rid of the chemicals, it causes smokers to cough. When a person smokes again, it would paralyze the cilia again which would stop the human from coughing. Back in history, a theory as to why smokers kept smoking is because it stopped their coughing. They might have even thought it was healthy.
Another case in which smoke affects our health is when it comes from fires. Smoke has tiny micro-particles in it that cause symptoms such as burning eyes, running nose, and bronchitis. In some cases, it has even killed people. In China people die all the time from air pollution produced by their many factories. When there is a fire, they make people crawl on the floor because the smoke can cause you to pass out or even die.
