My School

My name is Andrew and I am an 11th grade student at Harmony Science Academy Houston High. Harmony is widely known as one of the best high schools in the nation, which numerous amounts of awards, such as earning a spot on the Best High Schools on the U.S. News Gold List. Harmony Science Academy Houston High is also a STEM school, which focuses on the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math, and expands further on those through experiments to explain concepts and principles. Harmony is also known for having high success for college rates, as more students enter Harmony taking AP courses and preparing for college through PSAT, SAT, and ACT preparation.

Before entering Harmony Science Academy Houston High, I had limited knowledge on the STEM fields. Now, I have had experience with new knowledge of science with demonstrations that feature the principles of Physics and Chemistry, as well as engineering and technology through Robotics and First competitions. This had also allow me to open up new opportunities with demonstrating the concepts of STEM at the I-SWEEEP Fair, and the STEM Expo.

STEM and I have worked well with finding ways to connecting knowledge. For me, I am working closely with STEM, specifically with Chemistry, with lessons over it, such as labs that focus on topics like titrations, and calculations that help me improve my math skills that will prepare me for colleges that have a high interest in the field of Chemistry, such as Rice University and Carnegie Mellon University.
