Biography

Hiroyuki Ichihara received a bachelor's degree in Engineering from Meiji University, Japan, in 1995, a master's degree in Engineering from Meiji University in 1997, and a doctorate degree in Engineering from Meiji University in 2000.  He was a Research Associate at Meiji University in 2000, a part-time researcher at Satellite Venture Business Laboratory at Ibaraki University, Japan, in 2001, a Research Associate at Department of Control Engineering Systems at Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan, in 2002, an Assistant Professor at Department of Systems Innovation and Informatics at Kyushu Institute of Technology in 2007, and a Lecturer at Department of Mechanical Engineering Informatics at Meiji University in 2010. In 2013, he was Associate Professor in the same department. Since 2019, he has been appointed Professor.  Meanwhile, he was visiting the Laboratory for Analysis and Architecture of Systems (LAAS-CNRS), France, in 2016-2017 for a year. He won awards for Best Presentation in Session at the American Control Conference in 2007 and 2009, respectively. He has been an AE on the IEEE CSS Conference Editorial Board since 2019. He was also an IPC Co-Chair for the 10th IFAC Symposium on Robust Control Design (ROCOND2022).


The research interests of Hiroyuki Ichihara include numeric and symbolic optimization methods in robust control problems for linear and nonlinear systems, and methods in system identification. He is also interested in multi-agent systems and model predictive control. He is the author/co-author of more than 45 contributions to international journals and proceedings of international conferences.
