Craftsman Garden Studio
Here are a few details of the garden studio. Amusing construction photos are here.
A custom cornice above the recycled door
The window to the left of the door above. All molding is flashed to extend its life.
And a detail of the molding at bottom-right of the window
The hex window which I miraculously cut and rabbeted accurately on my first try
A close-up of the hex window molding
A close-up of the 'keystone' over the French doors, with flashing
Detail of the siding mix. The shingles were new but the lower were reused redwood pieces salvaged from another job.
Detail of the door molding base
A careful treatment of the joining of the two roof planes, and tapering of the rafter ends for just a bit more elegance
The back of the studio is on the fence/property line with the property next door, so I carried the lines through from the fence. The use of T-111 plywood siding was both a cost-saving measure and a way of matching the vertical pattern of the fence.
