Background
I'm Peggy L. Ferguson, Ph.D., a seasoned and devoted clinician with 40 years of experience. My journey has been both personally and professionally enriching as I've had the privilege to contribute to the paths of numerous individuals seeking assistance for substance use disorder, mental health challenges, and personal growth. Each person I've worked with has provided me with personal and professional development. The articles, courses, E-books, and other transformative materials on the site were initially developed and refined over the years as additional tools to aid my patients. The informational resources, including handouts, workbooks, and worksheets, focus on skill development and personal growth, representing just the tip of the iceberg.
Recently, I stumbled upon something I wrote in the 1970s that remains as relevant today as it was then. I encourage you to delve into the wealth of my life's work and utilize these materials to overcome your unique challenges. While I may not be able to work with each of you individually, I hope these transformational materials contribute to your journey to becoming the person you aspire to be.
I maintain an online private counseling practice based in Stillwater, Oklahoma, exclusively serving state residents. Additionally, I offer Coaching and Consultation Services accessible to individuals from anywhere through my website, WWW.TranformationalEndeavors.Online. This practice allows me to extend my expertise and support to those seeking help outside clinical psychotherapy. My commitment remains steadfast in helping individuals and couples lead happier and more fulfilling lives.
My ebooks, "Understanding Cross Addiction To Prevent Relapse" , "Preventing Addiction Relapse: Protecting Your Recovery In Post Surgery Pain Days" , and "The Recovering Person's Guide to Surviving and Thriving Through The Holidays Without Losing Your Sobriety or Your Sanity," along with "The Honey Jar" are available for purchase at the MyStorePage .
My Interest in Holiday Stress and Depression. I have long noted the elevating stress, depression, loneliness and feelings of overwhelm that often begins before Halloween and seems to subside around Mid-January. Almost everyone that I work with during this time presents with increasing stressors, tensions, irritability, and other symptoms of Holiday Stress. People in early recovery from addiction are particularly susceptible to holiday stress and can be more vulnerable to relapse at this time. Depressed clients often feel like they are twice as depressed as before the holiday season as their stressors increase and their self-confidence about effectively managing those stressors go down.
Holiday stress is not simply worrying about what to get the kids and your in-laws for Christmas. It often involves a escalating buildup of conflicting demands with an equally decreasing confidence in your ability to manage those demands. The suicide rate goes up around the holidays, so it is important to get the help that you need for “holiday stress”.
