Between Kynance and Caerthillian lies the beach at Pentreath. Between 1752 and the 1820s, the cliffs were quarried for a mineral called Soapstone which was used in the manufacture of early english soft paste Porcelain at a number of "Factories" which included Vauxhall in London, and Worcester.
