To help prepare you for the step up from GCSE to A Level, we have put together transition work for your year 12 units (The Later Tudors, and the Cold War in Asia). Please read through and complete all of the compulsory tasks and bring this with you to your first history lesson in September.
The Later Tudors, 1547 - 1603
Welcome to Tudor History! In preparation for September we would like you to begin getting to know Elizabeth I, other key Elizabethan individuals and to get a feel for the Tudor period itself. In order to do this we would like you to complete the series of activities below. We hope that you find these enjoyable and interesting and that they provide you with a flavour of what is to come in September and a bit of a background to some of the individuals that we study.
The Cold War in Asia, 1945-1993
In preparation for September we would like you to begin getting to know about the Cold War in Asia and some of the key events and concepts that are part of our new and exciting course. If you have studied the Cold War at GCSE, this course will build on that knowledge, with a focus on Asia and different events in the Cold War. However if you have not studied the Cold War previously, there are some activities which we would encourage you to do first, to introduce you to the wider topic.
If you have any questions about this work, please feel free to email one of the year 12 history teachers. Our email addresses are on the attached documents.
