The Holiday atmosphere at Sharon Heights Country Club in Menlo Park made for a festive event for Hillsborough Bailliage on December 1st, 2012. One was greeted upon entering with a holiday display in an alcove.
Hosts V Echanson Hon Vladimir and Dame Natalie Ermakoff chose an Argentina theme for the evening.
Fifty members and guests in their holiday best mingled during the Reception where several tasty hors d’oeuvres were passed and an Argentina Chardonnay was poured.
After being seated at tables adorned with small poinsettia plants, Bailli Lois Gogol welcomed everyone and introduced several guests. We were served scallop ceviche with citrus caviar topped with tangerine lace micro greens with verjus. The presentation was excellent as were the scallops! Torrontes Argentina, “LaFloroneia 2011 complimented this very well.
V Echanson Orley Hatfield explained the wines being poured.
Wild boar with quinoa and pumpkin mélange was the next course. Catena Malbec, Bodega Catena Zapata 2009 was an excellent pairing for this course. Berry sorbet was served as an “interlude”.
A superb Lomo Asado [grilled filet] was served with purple potatoes and Gigante bean stew. Everyone commented on this savory course. The filet was prepared perfectly. Trivento “Reserve” Malbec Argentina Mendoza 2010 was poured.
Dessert was a delicious Dulce de Leche Píonono served with an espresso milkshake. Port wine was poured.
Keeping with the Argentina theme, Tango dancers performed several numbers.
Bailli Lois Gogol presented Executive Chef Michael Nakahara with a La Chaine plaque and thanked the wait staff who served the meal in a perfect La Chaine way.
This was a perfect way to start the Holiday Season. Great camaraderie and a great event! We thank the Ermakoff's for this excellent event!
