Dominican Order - 1216
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominican_Order
A Catholic mendicant order of pontifical right that was founded in France by a Castilian priest named Dominic de Guzmán - Saint Dominic alternatively called Dominic of Osma, Dominic of Caleruega, and Domingo Félix de Guzmán, and, in Britain and Ireland, Saint Sunday. He is the patron saint of astronomers and natural scientists, and he and his order are traditionally credited with spreading and popularizing the rosary.
In 1215, Dominic established himself, with six followers, in a house of a rich resident of Toulouse. Dominic saw the need for a new type of organization to address the spiritual needs of the growing cities of the era, one that would combine dedication and systematic education, with more organizational flexibility than either monastic orders or the secular clergy. He subjected himself and his companions to the monastic rules of prayer and penance.
Dominic abstained from meat, "observed stated fasts and periods of silence, selected the worst accommodations and the meanest clothes, and never allowed himself the luxury of a bed.
Dominic died at the age of fifty-one, according to Guiraud "exhausted with the austerities and labors of his career".
Members of the order, who are referred to as Dominicans, generally display the letters OP after their names, standing for Ordinis Praedicatorum, meaning 'of the Order of Preachers'.

Cantharellus californicus
The California golden chanterelle is a popular edible mushroom native to the state. They are named for their distinctive deep yellow color. California golden chanterelles have a symbiotic relationship with California trees, especially oaks, and help to nourish underground root systems.
Mushrooms like the chanterelle keep soil healthy by breaking down dead wood and storing carbon in the ground. They can even help to filter our water.
