Our Beethoven Play Day is inspired by Tom Hammond, much-loved conductor of Hertford Symphony Orchestra until his untimely death in 2021 which was deeply felt by all those who knew him. Tom originally came up with the idea to mark Beethoven's 250th Birthday in 2020 . We dedicate this day to the memory of Tom whose talent and love of music touched all those around him.
Following our performance of Beethoven's Symphony No.9 in November 2025. Hertford Symphony Orchestra would like to invite experienced orchestral players as well as young instrumentalists to join us for a stimulating and sociable day of music making working at pace through all of Beethoven's Symphonies 1-8. Guest players are welcome.
