Lithuanian violinist Auguste Emilija Copeland (née Janonyte) is a Royal College of Music graduate and prizewinner of numerous national and international competitions. She received Lithuania’s prestigious Queen Morta Award for outstanding musical achievement at the age of seven, before going on to win the Young Musician International Contest in Tallinn, Estonia, in 2011.
Auguste has performed with ensembles including the English National Opera Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Her performance highlights include appearances at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, alongside performances at the Royal Festival Hall and in London’s West End, including the Apollo Theatre, Vaudeville Theatre and Lyric Theatre. Her varied career has encompassed orchestral and chamber music, stage productions, and projects spanning a wide range of musical styles.
Passionate about the joy of ensemble music-making, Auguste particularly values the opportunity to work with musicians of all backgrounds and experience levels. Through coordinating the Music Programme at the University of Reading and her involvement in community music projects, she has developed a deep appreciation for the creativity, connection and sense of belonging that music can bring.
As Leader of Hertford Symphony Orchestra, Auguste is delighted to share her experience, enthusiasm and love of music-making with the orchestra, supporting musicians as they come together to create dazzling performances.
