2020:
While we were greatly disappointed that our 2020 Military Concert Series had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, we are grateful to our sponsors who through their generosity allowed us to continue to support Delaware’s Veterans and Military Personnel. In many ways it was even more important this year given what our country has been going through. Our sponsors continued support allowed us to offer our support through donations to the following.

HONOR FLIGHT PHILADELPHIA (VOLUNTEER WORK AND DONATIONS): Transports America’s Veterans free of charge from Southeast Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware to Washington, DC to visit the memorials dedicated to honor the service and sacrifices of themselves and their families. Initial focus was on WWII Veterans, with Koreans War and Vietnam Veterans now being included. Every veteran is accompanied by a volunteer (escort) who provides support and helps him or her enjoy the day. We are proud to have filled this role on numerous occasions.
PAWS OF WAR: Trains and places shelter dogs to serve and provide independence to our U.S. Military Veterans that suffer from the emotional effects of war. In turn, each veteran can experience the therapeutic and unconditional love only a companion animal can bring.
AMERICAN VET DOGS: Helps those who have served our country honorably live with dignity and independence. The service dog programs of America’s VetDogs® were created to provide enhanced mobility and renewed independence to veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders with disabilities, allowing them to once again live with pride and self-reliance. The service dogs provide support with daily activities and motivation to tackle new challenges.
OPERATION WE CARE (VOLUNTEER WORK AND DONATIONS):
DELAWARE VETERANS HOME (VOLUNTEER WORK): At the Delaware Veterans Home, residents enjoy the comfort of modern accommodations as well as the convenience of common living and dining areas for socializing with new friends. Assistance with daily living activities is available whenever needed from personal grooming and hygiene to diet and exercise. They adjust our level of care and support to meet each resident’s needs and preferences.
In addition to the every-day comforts of home, they strive to provide our residents with special veterans programs that are not found anywhere else. Memorial Day, Independence Day, Flag Day and Veterans’ Day are very special days and they celebrate in ways that their residents genuinely appreciate. Our volunteers sponsor and run cookouts, fishing outings, Casino Nights etc.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY (VOLUNTEER WORK): Habitat for Humanity partners with people in local communities to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and for their families. Our volunteers helped build a house for a veteran and are standing by to do so again.
