About Henrik
Henrik Cronqvist is a behavioral finance scholar and global academic leader whose research explores how psychological forces shape financial decision-making and economic systems. Trained under Nobel Laureate Richard H. Thaler at the University of Chicago, his work has been published in leading journals including the American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, and Journal of Finance. A former Associate Editor of the Review of Financial Studies, his scholarship—supported by more than $1 million in research funding—has been cited 7,000+ times and received over 10 awards, and been featured in The New York Times, Harvard Business Review, and The Wall Street Journal. He is a regular speaker at the American Economic Association, the National Bureau of Economic Research, and the World Economic Forum in Davos, and has presented at more than 100 academic and policy conferences worldwide.
As an academic leader, he has served as Dean at Chapman University in Southern California and as Vice Dean at the University of Miami. He has led institution-wide transformations that improved rankings, expanded revenue, and elevated the school’s strategic footprint—launching cross-disciplinary programs in AI and FinTech, Sustainability, and the Business of Entertainment; redesigning career centers to emphasize leadership development and corporate partnerships; and accelerating digital transformations of MBA and executive education portfolios. He has also secured several landmark philanthropic donations, resulting in newly endowed schools, centers of excellence, and faculty chairs dedicated to innovation and impact.
He currently advises startups and VCs in the FinTech and EdTech spaces, writes about behavioral finance and the future of higher education, and is building the world’s first Behavioral Finance AI Lab — an initiative that integrates behavioral science, technology, and innovation to drive both scholarship and societal impact.
