Block Days Wed-Thurs 12/4-5 Dividing Polynomials.

Today we learned how to use long division to divide polynomials into factors. We also took our skills quiz.
Example 1: Divide 3x3 – 5x2 + 10x – 3 by 3x + 1
(Don't forget to change the signs, as shown in red, when doing the subtraction.)
We write any remainder as a fractional part of the divisor. In this case our quotient is
Example 2: Divide 2x3 – 9x2 + 15 by 2x – 5
First off, note that there is a gap in the degrees of the terms of the dividend: the polynomial
2x3 – 9x2 + 15 has no x term. It is important that we leave space for a x-term column. We can create this space by turning the dividend into 2x3 – 9x2 + 0x + 15.
Remember to add the remainder to the polynomial part of the answer:
