Welcome to Algebra II.

This is a college prep course designed to get students prepared for the rigors of higher level mathematics such as AP Statistics, Pre-Calculus or Trigonometry. There will be daily suggested practice to keep you on top of your current unit of study and hone your math analysis and computational skills. Formative assessments are given at the end of each of the learning goals presented, usually after 2-3 goals. There is a summative assessment that will cover 4-6 of our learning goals covered in our units of study. At the end of the semester, students will have an opportunity to reassess in any previous learning goal they would like to show growth in. My pedagogy follows the Experience First, Formalize Later protocol, otherwise known as a constructivist approach. Students are expected to be a very active learner in the class within and outside of their cooperative learning groups. Students need to be a proactive part of their learning in this class and get help early and often. I'm available before or after school, during our anchor travel times and of course during our independent work time in class.

There is a focus on modeling, problem solving, and analytical thinking throughout the course. In Algebra II, students should continue to develop proficiency with the Common Core’s eight Standards for Mathematical Practice:

Summer math review packets are below for those students entering Algebra II and Geometry.

Students entering Algebra II should work on the Algebra I skill builder and Algebra II Mlpsts_SkillBldrs documents. Those entering Geometry should take a look at the Algebra 1 and Geometry Skill Builders documents for a refresher and to enhance competency in foundation skills as well as lay the groundwork for future skills.
